Microsoft's Internet Explorer web browser has turned 15 years old

August 15, 1995 Microsoft announced the release of Internet Explorer 1, which was based on a Spyglass Inc., program called Mosaic, which Microsoft licensed from the company. The browser wasn't launched with Windows 95, but was part of the Windows 95 Plus Pack.

Street Slide - Browsing Street Level Imagery

A multi-perspective street slide panorama with navigational aides and mini-map.

Systems such as Google Street View and Bing Maps Streetside enable users to virtually visit cities by navigating between immersive 360° panoramas, or bubbles. The discrete moves from bubble to bubble enabled in these systems do not provide a good visual sense of a larger aggregate such as a whole city block. Multi-perspective «strip» panoramas can provide a visual summary of a city street but lack the full realism of immersive panoramas.

Microsoft Expands Cloud Computing Capabilities & Services in Europe Link topic

Microsoft today announced the opening of its first ‘mega data centre’ in Europe to meet continued growth in demand for its Online, Live and Cloud services. The $500 million total investment is part of Microsoft’s long-term commitment in the region, and is a major step in realising Microsoft’s Software plus Services strategy. Using Speech Recognition to Program in MS Visual Studio



This video offers a glimpse of our thinking and early implementation of extending Visual Studio to allow programmers to write code in C# or VB.NET using mostly speech recognition.
